Superchief Gallery is pleased to announce CREEPERS! – a previously censored collection of proudly perverted, vulgar, gross-out art from America’s most esteemed minds opening October 4th.

(Get on the facebook invite here)

The multi-media, interdisciplinary show features work from underground cartoonist MIKE DIANA (the first and only artist to be arrested and receive a criminal conviction for obscenity for artwork in the US), future feminist artist and Voluptuous Horror of Karen Black singer KEMBRA PFAHLER (Deitch Projects, MoMA PS1, 2008 Whitney Biennnial), artist/dj/musician/Santos Party House co-owner SPENCER SWEENEY (MoMA PS1, 2006 Whitney Biennial), former Art Club 2000 member DANNY MCDONALD (2011 Frieze Art Fair, 2010 Whitney Biennial), ARIC SHUNNESON (originator of NYC’s sexual-comedy electro-punk theatrical group, Jugger-Nut), as well as a slew of other varied and talented misfits.

The group exhibition, curated by self-proclaimed creepers Jacquelyn Gallo and Rosalie Knox, includes work that has been banned, rejected, censored and ultimately put one artist in prison. The emancipated collection reflects on liberated childhood fantasy and embraces its transition into adulthood, providing a pleasant respite from the current climate of sexual tension and oppression. A raw dog glance at natural imaginative response, curiosity and frustration (sans all the societal shame and embarrassment) the unoppressive collection strays away from catering to the ‘respectable’ and returns sexuality to the sweaty arms of the proudly perverted.

Like stumbling upon a dildo in your mom’s underwear drawer or dad’s Barely Legal collection, it’s an eye opener. Treat yourself to something horrible.
