Remember How’s Your News? They were a group of reporters with developmental disabilities who started out modestly, doing interviews with people on the street for a project for the video class at their adults-with-disabilities camp back in the late 90′s. Pretty soon, they started making copies of their videos and they eventually got into the hands of Matt Stone and Trey Parker, who saw the charm and humor in their videos and said that they’d love to see more of it. Not that far down the road after that, Stone and Parker were known as the creators of South Park, and now HYN? had the money and reception to start making videos and documentaries, which they did throughout the late 90s and early 00′s, leading up to their short-lived MTV series. I remember watching that six episode season back in early 2009 and seeing the light-hearted humor and charm that Stone, Parker and so many others saw in it and when I learned that they covered some of election at the party’s national conferences, it put a big nostalgic smile on my face. And man, what a breath of fresh, politically neutral air it was for me to see these guys again, especially covering something like the most relevant thing America has to offer.
Anyway, these guys recently put out an hour-long documentary on their coverage of the conferences. It’s only 5 dollars and I haven’t seen it yet, but from the trailer and interview with HYN? director Arthur Bradford that BoingBoing did, I can tell I wouldn’t expect anything less from these guys. Truly awesome to see all of the politicians/celebrities reactions, (especially Romney’s face) which Bradford felt is a big part of the whole thing. But, hey, look for yourself.
Also, I’m not Stephen Colbert, but I feel like this article wouldn’t be complete without laughing at Romney and his priceless-as-shit face a bit:Tweet
