I’ve been looking for interesting video to showcase on A.N.D. There are a lot of gruesome videos and images of massacres carried out by the Syrian government and the feared militiamen known as the Shabiha, but I said before we are not about gore here.
Here is a good one:
It’s crystal clear.
Video starts with the guy holding the camera to the sky. Somebody next to him says:
“Where are the two planes?” he responds.
Somebody next to him says:
“Look, there it is! BOMB BOMB BOMB.”
“Bombing on the town of Manbij. Good GOD! 1-8-2012!! Aerial bombing on the town of Manbij, LOOK WORLD!! … MiG planes …”
I found this video on the New York Times website. The absurdity is that one of the headings under the video was “What We Don’t Know … The shaky recording made it difficult to make a definitive determination that the object falling from the plane was the same bomb that caused the explosion.” As a veteran of the Iraq War I can tell you it’s pretty obvious. The plane appears, banks and changes direction. You can see something falling from the sky and then a plume of smoke erupts from the ground.
What’s more, you can hear the fear in the man’s voice. This isn’t some orchestrated hoax by the opposition. You can sense his terror, watching a flying killing machine drop explosives onto his town.
The Syrian government stopped letting foreign media into the country a while ago, yet the voice of the people will not be stifled.
No government can extinguish that spark in every human being to persist and march on in the face of oppression and brutality.
