Aerosyn-Lex Mestrovic’s directorial debut, “Scriptura Vitae”, is one of the most intriguing films we’ve seen in a while; Commissioned by the UK’s Channel 4 and Protein London as part of the Random Acts arts platform and featuring an original soundtrack by Diplo as well as London-based producer Actress and British duo Plaitum, the film premieres tomorrow night at Neuehouse in Manhattan.
This past week has been full of sensational news. But, you know what? We really like movies. Here’s ten reasons you won’t hear from us until Monday.

The fictional pop-star, Powerline, from “A Goofy Movie” was hotter than any real pop-star, except for maybe Prince.
Alan Moore is notoriously against Hollywood’s adaptations of his comic book works, so Jimmy’s End, “Moore’s first work written specifically for the screen and made with his ongoing creative involvement and blessing,” as the production company notes, is certainly worth a look. And by the looks of the trailer…yeah, this is going to be a fistful of weirdness.
Barfshark asks our new homie SCUMSUX to tell us just a little bit about his self-proclaimed “Girl-power themed puss-fest-Whitney-Houston-memoriam-gore-whore-gutter-orgasm” short SPARKLE; yep, it’s just as insane as it sounds. Check it out HURR.

The Copycat Lofts in Baltimore have had their generations of art students, random crazy people and punks come and go. It’s basically a gigantic low-rent factory inhabited by a variety of artistically inclined people: Ed Schrader, Dan Deacon, and Wham City being just a few notables.
Born of the pre-teen fantasies of writer-director Panos Cosmatos as he browsed the selection of early 1980s Canadian science fiction and horror VHS tapes that he would never be allowed to rent, BEYOND THE BLACK RAINBOW is a psychedelic head trip of the highest order. Cosmatos captures the aesthetics of an era effortlessly while fusing those influences into something bold and visionary and entirely his own.
