SHARRRKKK WEEEEEEEK, time to honor the best Shark Toys we can remember.
Street Sharks was a television show from the early 90′s about four brothers who were turned into sharks by a mad scientist. Naturally, like Moo Mesa, TMNT, Samurai Pizza Cats and other such human-animal hybrid hero series, the show was used as a platform for Mattel to create little plastic action toys. And thank God they did, because my brother had these action figures and they were fun as hell.
If you remember these commercials you remember that the same company also sold a swamp monster set that was basically the same thing but green. My next door neighbor Timmy had these and convinced me that when boys put them on they would turn into real sharks that ate girls. Fuck Timmy.
I never had this toy, but I guess that’s okay because judging by this video they don’t work very well. I guess you can’t win them all, sharks.
If you didn’t have LEGO sharks you were missing out. While I never wasted time making stop motion videos with my LEGOs, I spent a hell of a lot of time having these guys rip shit apart (usually the same inarticulate cube buildings I so fondly constructed). This video neglects to feature the equally cool chainsaw sharks that LEGO also made.
And though this last video isn’t anything nostalgic….it’s a robot shark. A ROBOT SHARK, DUDES!
